Draklia was probably my first serious attempt at writing a book. I did a couple of chapters a while back and then it was abandoned. Until recently, that is. I mentally dug up and revised in my mind the plot. It's now pretty much completely changed, and in the process of being written again. I now have clearer defined characters and a changed view of what im trying to accomplish. The book will be a fairly light hearted and hopefully humorous story set in a fictional setting, not dissimilar to Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. (He is a big influence). The book is set in a fictional city, with a stage magician who hits the big time and discovers the world of showbusiness isn't just glamor and glitz, and has to deal with all the downsides of being a celebrity; overenthusiastic fans, the onslaught of papparatzi, and homicidal maniacs trying to kill him. Im working on the book at the moment. It's still young, but Im slowly raising that wordcount. Too early to provide any estimates, or indeed any word. |
